#tbt from my Family Album - The Emotional Power of Photographs

This is me and Tati. At that time, I was around 2 years old, and my sister 4. We were enjoying some sweets around the table at someone’s house in the south of Brazil, my beautiful country, in a typical day of our childhood. I’m trying to describe the occasion because even I didn’t know about this picture until some weeks ago.

When I got sent that photo, a million memories came into my mind. I instantly called my mom to tell her about it, and she was also surprised with the existence of this polaroid. During our conversation, we started to remember about this and many other moments. We laughed and cried together. We missed being with each other. It was simply incredible and indescribable! Looking now at this picture, I can see that photographs have the power to awake feelings we sometimes forget exists within us. Photographs can make a moment last forever!

I realised that sometimes I dive so deep into my routine that maybe I forget to make enough time to appreciate what I have already lived. Having a break from the hustle to just stop and look at these memories is not only important, but essential. It can help us build our consciousness of who we are, and how to take better care of ourselves. Like, I don’t ever want to be bad to this girl, you know?

When life hits us with its challenges, it’s also when we need to look at our inner child to be stronger again so that we can keep believing in our dreams without limitations. A photograph can definitely help with that.
